Ak Sai canyon (Ak Say)
Information about Ak Sai canyon (aka Valley of Forgotten Rivers) in Kyrgyzstan
Ak Sai canyon from the observation deck
We are on the southern shore of Issyk-Kul. The road leads us between canyons of bizarre shapes of white sandstone. The wide path winds meanderingly and takes us deeper and deeper into its depths.

At the edges there are huge slopes of fantastic mountains, you can see the outlines of animals - a huge monkey head, the shapes of wild fabulous animals.

A place that resembles an unknown land with its own special world of flora and fauna.
Ak-Sai Canyon is named like that because everywhere we are surrounded by
huge hills of white sandstone, somewhere changing its color from beige to silver. The white coastal sand sparkles in the light of the bright rays of the sun.

And those who have learned about this place come here, because the canyon calls to visit it more than once and more than twice - the place is so special.
This place is also known as The Valley of Forgotten Rivers. To get here, you need to drive on a dried riverbed.
In this place, you can't help but observe that you won't even notice in a large cities. There is a huge expanse: there are no buildings, nothing - just
Issyk Kul, mountains, sky, sun, clouds.

And you get up early on purpose to meet the dawn; admire the surrounding landscape, wander through the canyons, plunge into the lake and watch the sunset, sitting by a campfire with your friends.

And at night, the heavenly panorama unfolds in all its glory - the stars are clearly visible, because the light from lampposts and from the windows of residential buildings does not interfere. The glare of moonlight forms a sparkling golden path on the surface of Issyk-Kul.

The Ulan wind walks freely here and tells its legends to the lake. Maybe because this coast has not been inhabited yet, few people know about it yet, although a yurt camp and a newly built recreation area are already located here.
Issyk Kul lake from the observation point
Walking along the coastal mountains is a pleasure. There is an observation deck on the hills, which offers a wonderful view of the entire coast.

It's not crowded even at the height of the hot season on the lake, because few people know about this incredible place, not everyone has the patience to get here and not everyone will get there.

But it's worth visiting these places at least once, to hear the song of Issyk-Kul, to surrender to the hot breath of the Ulan wind and immerse yourself in the cool crystal waters of Issyk-Kul, to wander barefoot on rocks and sands, to inhale the aroma of medicinal mountain herbs and just sit on the shore, admiring the lake at any time of the year.
