The picturesque range of mountain peaks of the Northern Tien Shan is spread out and at the foot of Kungei Ala-Too, one of the ranges of the high mountain system, the settlement of Ananyevo is located near the northern shore of Lake Issyk-Kul. The Chet-Baisoorun River flows through the village, which flows into the beautiful lake Issyk-Kul.
Once this village was called Sazanovka and there are several versions of the origin of the name. One of them is that the village is named because a lot of carp were caught in Lake Issyk-Kul. According to the stories of the old-timers of the village, "they fished with pitchforks”. Another version of the origin of that name is the word “saz” from the Kyrgyz language means "swamp, swampy place" and the name comes from this word – “saz”, swampy coastal areas of Issyk-Kul.
And in 1942, the village was renamed in honor of Nikolai Yakovlevich Ananyev, a participant in the Great Patriotic War, a native of the village. Nikolai Yakovlevich was part of the legendary Panfilov Division and courageously defended the capital of USSR – Moscow. Nikolai Yakovlevich died and was posthumously awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union.

Sometime in 1864-1868, the resettlement of residents from the central provinces of Russia to the Semirechensk region (south-eastern part of Kazakhstan and northern part of Kyrgyzstan) began. And on the Pishpek - Karakol postal highway, the village was one of the first to emerge. The official founding date of the village is considered to be 1871. According to printed sources, seven Russian peasant families who arrived from the Voronezh province founded the village of Sazanovka.
The first settlers laid and built a stone church in the name of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker. The first church was burned down in August 1916 during the uprising in Przhevalsky district and in Semirechye. The current church in the village is the third St. Nicholas church since the former one has already fallen into disrepair.
Russian travelers visited these regions long-ago and described the village as follows: "The large village of Sazanovskoye (Sazanovka), with 3,800 souls of both sexes, probably got its name from the swampy areas (saz) adjacent to Lake Issyk—Kul. Despite the mixed population, Sazanovka is flourishing: wide streets lined with greenery, beautiful houses, a beautiful church, an abundance of livestock and poultry — all this clearly indicates the well-being of the village; a significant help in the economy is fishing in the lake (carp, chebak)”. The village still features well-kept houses and gardens. New markets, cafes, and guest houses have appeared.
