Burana tower
Information about Burana tower in Kyrgyzstan
Burana tower and the spiral staircase leading to the top
Not far from Tokmok town there is an ancient minaret dating back to the 11th centuries.
Scientists have studied the object over the years and found out that the original height was presumably more than 40 meters, but due to the earthquake, the upper part of the tower was partially destroyed. Reconstruction was carried out and today the Burana tower is presented in a reduced size - almost by half. The height of the tower is 24 meters.

The historical site is under state protection and is still of interest to scientists: archaeologists and historians. Archaeological excavations were carried out and it was found that the tower is located on the ruins of an ancient fortress settlement.

Inside the tower there is a narrow spiral staircase leading to the roof of the tower, where there is a platform for viewing the surroundings of the valley. From the height of the tower there is a beautiful view of the mountains and the surroundings of the modern city.
There is a museum on the territory of the historical monument, which presents ancient exhibits that characterize the life and way of life of the inhabitants of the ancient city.
Field of stone monuments situated close to Burana tower
Not far from the Burana tower there are ancient tombstones, stone millstones, rock carvings and balbals - huge stones in the shape of a human warrior (6th-10th centuries). Sometimes such stone statues were erected to the dead battle heros in memory of their exploits over the enemies.

Visiting the territory will not leave anyone indifferent, you immerse yourself in that atmosphere of distant days and imagine that many centuries ago everything was different here, a different speech was heard, hammers from forges were heard, carts with farmers and artisans rattled along dusty roads, trade caravans of camels loaded with all kinds of goods passed and the shouts of the drivers deafened the district.

At that time, the rule of the Karakhanid state reigned here. And none of those locals probably thought that after thousand years the memory of their life and way of life would remain, the Burana tower would stand through the centuries, just as now we do not think that maybe this tower would stand for more than a millennium.
This is how ancient craftsmen worked, the tower itself is made of baked clay bricks and one can only admire the skillful craft of the ancient builders. Their unique creation still surprises modern architects today with the strength and reliability of the tower, which has withstood earthquakes for centuries.

The Burana Tower was located in the center of the ancient city of Balasagyn. This city is also famous for the fact that the famous philosopher and poet Jusup Balasagyn, who became famous for his literary work "Beneficent Knowledge", was born and lived here.

In this book, the great philosopher outlines his concept of the development of a conscious society based on morality and the immutable laws of the universe. In his work, the poet calls for tolerance between people and for equality in society. Respect for any kind of work - artisan, shepherd or farmer - is a humane attitude towards those who clothe, shoe and feed people. In his work "Beneficent Knowledge," the philosopher argues that government should be carried out by a humane and just ruler based on the law. Ethics and morality are the main themes in the teachings of the ancient poet.
