Rukh Ordo - an open air museum of culture and religions
Cholpon Ata is the administrative center of the Issyk-Kul district and at the same time a resort town with its own attractions. During the summer season citizens, residents of the republic and a huge number of guests, tourists and vacationers from around the world come here to relax.

Since Soviet times, a huge number of guest houses, sanatoriums, and coastal hotels have been preserved and are still functioning on the northern coast of Issyk-Kul, and the private sector has also been active - since time immemorial, local residents have always had small buildings in the courtyard for guests, and this is how the residents of the city live.

In recent years, the northern shore of the lake has been chaotically built up - multi-storey hotels rise without architectural planning. Hotels, sanatoriums and guest houses, for the average vacationer - yurt camps, tent camps, wild beaches.

On weekends, at the height of the season, food, souvenirs and consumer goods are brought here from all places of the Chui Valley for sale at the famous Saturday and Sunday bazaar.

You will find everything here: national products, household utensils, food from mushrooms and pickles to various types of fresh salads and cheese and meat delicacies, an abundance of fruits and berries, medicinal herbs and flowers, desserts, homemade cakes, a wide variety of honey, jams, etc.; fabrics of all colors and clothes from small to large, as well as costume jewelry, carpets, homemade goods and handmade household items. A real oriental bazaar!

Tourists and vacationers also buy oriental sweets and sorbet, national drinks and homemade preserves. Famous varieties of apples and pears- crimson, aport, forest beauty, various types of cherries, all kinds of berries: black and red currants, gooseberries, raspberries - are the best in this fertile land.

There are many places in Cholpon Ata that are worth seeing - this is the historical and ethnographic complex "Rukh Ordo", built by a famous public figure, philanthropist and just a wonderful man, Tashkul Kereksizov, who made a huge personal contribution to the cultural and spiritual heritage of the republic and also built a huge ethno-complex on the southern shore- "Aalam-Ordo."

Unfortunately, the illness and premature death of a prominent figure prevented the completion of this ambitious project. But his creations remain in memory of him - a unique large-scale ensemble of national architecture - "Rukh Ordo" and "Aalam Ordo".

The tour guides of the Rukh Ordo ethnographic complex will tell you about religions and sacred writings, and yurts are located on the large territory of the museum. Cholpon Ata is home to a museum of local history and an open-air museum of petroglyphs. The city has a huge number of restaurants, cafes, hotel complexes, sanatoriums and boarding houses, hundreds of cozy guest houses for vacationers, bars, coffee shops, shops, entertainment and gaming centers are open day and night.

There are many children's attractions for children and adults in the coastal area, a Ferris wheel, water scooters, catamarans, boats, balloons are available for rent, you can fly a paraglider, book a steamer and boat trip, go water skiing, ATV and even test yourself on various recreational water attractions.

There are numerous tour sales points everywhere, because there are picturesque gorges around Cholpon Ata - Grigoryevsky and Semenov gorges, you can visit the Salt Lake, hike in the mountains, go on a tour to the high-altitude lakes and visit the beautiful jailoos – summer pastures. That is why the resort city attracts thousands of tourists and guests from all over the world.
