Not far from Karakol is one of the most beautiful gorges - Jeti-Oguz, which means "Seven bulls" in Kyrgyz language. It is these red rocks that have inspired many artists with their unusual beauty and landscape. Against a picturesque background, nature itself highlights seven stepped rocks stretching out at the northern slope of Terskey Ala-Too. The gorge contains a waterfall and many beautiful places. And here herds of horses and flocks of sheep graze on the pasture. There is a village of the same name in the valley and a river with the same name.
The Jeti-Oguz sanatorium with mineral springs, a pool with healing water is located in this area, and visitors to the resort can recover from many diseases. The sanatorium was built in Soviet times, and preserves the memory of that era – on the territory of the sanatorium you can find a monument to Lenin, as well as other monuments of the Soviet period. Since this year, the sanatorium has been under reconstruction, and in the near future it will be able to receive visitors already in the renovated premises.
Red rocks close to Jeti Oguz
Many stories, legends and folk tales are devoted to these unusual rocks. Among the Kyrgyz people, all the picturesque places are covered with ancient legends. From time immemorial, rich folklore has been the hallmark of the people, and oral folk art was appreciated thousands of years ago and today. And the Jeti-Oguz gorge is the gateway to the ancient history of the distant past of the people.
One legend says that the bulls of a rich man were lost, which were almost attacked by wolves, and they, huddled together, bowed their heads sadly, suddenly petrified and turned into red rocks. Another legend says that because of the lost calves that turned into bulls and found their own herd, a quarrel began between the brothers. And to prevent fratricidal slaughter, the wise elder turned them into seven bloody rocks. In general, you can also hear different legends, but they all tell you how something once turned into this chain of scarlet rocks.

And at the entrance to the gorge, a red rock immediately appears, resembling the outlines of a broken heart. And these mountains have not escaped the attention of the people - there are also many legends. And these legends say that the girl's heart was broken from grief because of the separation from her beloved.
There are a lot of coniferous trees in the gorge and they frame all the mountains surrounding the small village with a green-shaggy hedge. Locals are used to living in this paradisiacal place and have not been surprised by the flow of tourists from different countries for a long time - there are many guest houses, yurt towns and small hotels for guests.
