Information about Jyrgalan settlement
A village surrounded by wonderful landscapes
In the 1960s, thermal springs were found in this area and soon a sanatorium was built for the treatment of musculoskeletal, nervous, and gynecological diseases. A small village was also built, in which a little more than a thousand inhabitants lived. In Soviet times, the sanatorium was very popular among Kyrgyzstan citizens and Soviet tourists. Coal mining was also carried out in this area. People were involved and lived well. But with the collapse of the socialist system, the prosperous lives of local residents collapsed too, as in many places.

For several decades, the village was virtually empty, but life was transformed by the efforts of individual enthusiasts, when first one family arrived, then others joined – they built and improved life in an abandoned village on their own, so the first guest house was built, then the rest.
Jyrgalan valley has amazing views
The first tourists began to arrive, and the flow only increased every year. Mountains around Jyrgalan are really beautiful and people can see there amazing views and go on one-day or multi-day treks, so the flow of guests increases every year. Aside from that, winter in Jyrgalan is quite long and snowy, so it is a perfect place for freeride. Tourism brought another life to this once abandoned settlement.

Inspired by the example of enthusiasts, other people began to move in. Land plots have risen significantly in price. The village flourished and attracted the attention of other families. Recently, the President of the Republic announced that construction of a ski resort will begin in this area according to international standards, no worse than in the Swiss Alps. Prices have increased to cosmic proportions by local standards. Plots are being feverishly bought up, and a resort is already under construction. Now it is a popular place for locals and international tourists.
