Information about Karakol gorge in Kyrgyzstan
Waterfall in Karakol gorge
A favorite place of tourists, climbers, fans of winter sports, hikers, cyclists, athletes and in general all those who are madly in love with mountains. In summer, with its incredible beauty, the gorge invites everyone to relax among the towering coniferous trees - huge forests spread over long distances, they are guarded by majestic giant mountains with snow-capped peaks propping up the sky. A mountain river flows between the towering slopes. In summer, it is especially good here – staying outdoors among the Terskey Ala-Too ridges will leave an indelible impression of the Karakol Gorge.

There are yurt camps, guest houses, hotels, cottages, and chalets throughout the valley with all the amenities for a comfortable stay for guests and tourists. There is an alpine camp and a ski base in the gorge.

The Karakol gorge is especially attractive for climbers, because there are mountain peaks over 4000-5000 meters, beckoning to ascent - these are Karakol Peak, Przhevalsky peak, Telman Peak, Fuchik, Dimitrov, Zhukov, Gastello, Dzhigit peaks. And the alpine camp is undergoing preparatory work to conquer the snow peaks.
This gorge also attracts the eyes of people of creative professions - poets, photographers, artists: the indescribable beauty of the mountain landscapes, the views of alpine meadows with colorful greenery, the aromas of pine needles inspire people to create new masterpieces.
Walk along Karakol gorge
There are several hiking trails in the gorge; there are horseback rides along the gorge, bike trails, trekking, winter sports (freeride) are popular; climbing peaks, from an alpine camp (in summer); a ski resort and much more. Recently, active construction of recreation areas, various buildings, cottages, and wooden yurts has begun in the middle of the forest.

Demand creates supply - in summer there are not enough places for everyone.
The Karakol gorge is fraught with beautiful waterfalls and lakes, and you can also travel through it to the high-altitude lake Alakol, go to the picturesque Altyn-Arashan and Jeti-Oguz gorges.

In winter, it is much more difficult or almost impossible to drive by car due to the slippery ice surfaces formed on the dirt road, which is dangerous because you can get stuck due to snow drifts and ice.
