The residents of Karakol are particularly proud of the picturesque Karakol ski resort, located seven kilometers from the city. The city is located at the foot of the Tien Shan mountain range and is surrounded by snow-velvet peaks that beckon to you at any time of the year.

The ski base, built back in Soviet times, served as a training ground for athletes representing the huge Soviet Union at the Olympic Games, and people from all over the big country came here to train and relax against the backdrop of beautiful mountains, coniferous forests, mountain rivers and high-altitude lakes. It was here where the renowned champions gained strength and health.

Today, after reconstruction, renovation and construction of new buildings, chalet houses, recreation areas, the base has acquired a new modern look and also attracts all lovers of active winter recreation. Equipment, necessary attributes for those wishing to ski and snowboard - everything is available for rent, taking into account individual characteristics at the ski base rental point.

There are trails of various levels of difficulty located on the vast territory of the sports and recreation complex, so beginners, amateurs and professionals can come to this beautiful resort. The trails run through the forest. Instructors will tell you which route to take on the lifts for beginners and amateurs, and trails with difficult descent are only for professionals.

There is a helipad on the territory of the base.
The Karakol ski base is located at an altitude of 2300-3450m. The 20 km long trails are well maintained and prepared, and five lifts are in operation. The opening season is in November and until April, but the ski resort is open all year round – you can go for a walk in the summer or climb to the top of the 3040 m tall mountain using a lift.

Snow falls up to two meters or more in winter. For fans of freeride, there is also a place to turn around.
At the base, you can stay at cottages and chalets, and there is a restaurant.
